The Fertility Counselling Service (ni) is a service offered to couples and individuals who are undergoing or thinking of undergoing any of the various forms of fertility treatments. It is there to help you at any stage whether it is prior to you making the decision to undergo treatment, during or after treatment.
"Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of engaging in sexual intercourse without contraception." (Mosher & Pratt 1982)
It is estimated that one in six couples seek medical advice because of their inability to conceive.
Counselling is a process used to give couples and individuals an opportunity to explore their feelings, beliefs and thoughts in order for them to have a better understanding of their present situation.
Given the opportunity of developing their thoughts, people will often change their perspectives and be in a better position to make an informed decision on their future direction.
19th September 2015, 9.00am, Malone Lodge Hotel Belfast.
